General Information about Yoga

Yoga is most beneficial if practised regularly. Attending classes once a week is recommended for beginners, home practice and attending further classes can then follow. The more you practice the more quickly you will improve and progress.

As our classes are so popular it is necessary to book and pay for each term in advance to secure your place. Refunds can only be made if your place can be re-allocated. Please let us know if you are unable to attend.

Dress code: leggings or shorts and T-shirts are most suitable. We work in bare feet and operate a shoe free zone.

Yoga Classes

We run various weekly classes at the Institute ranging from Beginners, through Intermediate Junior Workshops and others, right up to Teachers. [ Timetable ]

Iyengar Yoga

BKS Iyengar lives in Pune, India and has spent his life in the study of yoga. This has given rise to a unique system, which is practised world-wide. This system focuses on alignment of the body through a graduated sequence of postures. The practice of yoga asanas encourages the body to become stronger and more supple.

The lessons consist of simple exercises gradually moving towards the more advanced postures, and followed by 10-15 minutes relaxation and breathing techniques giving freedom from stress and tension. Through regular yoga practice both the circulatory system and the respiratory system become more healthy and thus the body is better prepared to fight off disease.

Yoga is suitable for men and women of all ages.
